Making 3D Logos and Objects in Photoshop
This tutorial demonstrate how to produce a 3d look in shapes and text using Adobe Photoshop. Below is what we are going to get at the end of tutorial.
1 Create document 250x250 pixels with #3d3d3d as background color. Create a new layer name it "base". Select Custom Shape Tool from tools. Now go to the top and select image that i have marked here. Now make your foreground color black. Now holding Shift key, draw the shape. Make sure shape you draw is on the "base" layer.
2 Now go to the Main Menu and select Edit > Transform > Distort. Drag out the corners to make your image look similar to mine, and hit Enter key to accept the changes.
3 Go to Main Menu and select Filter > Stylize> Embose. You will be asked about rasterize layer, click ok and apply the following settings,
Angle: 135 °
Height: 5 pixels
Amount: 75%
Put your shape in center of document. Your image should be looking like the mine one.
4 Make sure you are having "base" layer selected. Now hold Alt key and press UP arrow key 10 to 12 times. Now your logo is a bit 3d. Now lets make it more realistic.
We need to merge all of the duplicated layers you just created. Go to your layers panel and merge them down by selecting the top layer (the last one created) and hit Ctrl+E on your keyboard. Do this as many times needed to get your new 3D logo on to one layer. Don't merge it all the way down, leave your background layer there.
5 Now hold Ctrl key and select "base" layer in the Layers Panel. This will highlight your logo. Make a new layer above the layer with your logo. Make sure the new layer is selected, and then select the gradient tool and draw a gradient of your choice.
Go to the Layer Panel and change the layer type from Normal to Color.
6 You can also add drop shadow effects on the logo. The final result I got is here. You can use this technique to create 3D logos, 3D headings etc. I hope this tutorials will have help you.
